Top five causes of motorcycle accidents. And first of all, please know they’re all preventable and avoidable.
Number one: inexperience. 29% of all crashes involve drivers without a valid motorcycle license. Please take the safety classes and get a valid license.
Number two: alcohol, 40% of all single vehicle motorcycle crash (with) fatalities do involve alcohol, and in fact, if you had two drinks, you are 11 times more likely to crash. Just don’t drink and drive. It’s that simple.
Number three: left hand turns. 42% of all fatal crashes happen this way. Usually that’s distracted driving, low visibility. Be careful for cars coming at you, taking a left hand turn in front of you.
Number four: excessive rates of speed. This is considered a factor in 32% of motorcycle fatalities. It’s simple. Don’t speed. Don’t be a cause of your own crash.
And the final number five: inattentive driving. This is simply something we need to educate the public about. They need to be aware to look for motorcycles, to look twice save a life.
