Kass & Moses » Videos » Motorcycle Accident Victims Sometimes Get Tricked By The Insurance Company
This is Andrew Kass. I want to talk quickly, incidentally, about insurance companies trying to settle with you quickly. You know, insurance companies – they are not looking for your interests. They’re really looking to resolve your claim for as little as they can. I just ran into a situation last week with one of our clients, but this is kind of typical – I see this a lot so I wanted to kinda bring this to everybody’s attention. This guy came to us thinking he’d settled his property damage for $500. He suffered a significant concussion, and 8 days after the crash he was wired money – $500 – which he thought was for property damage. The insurance company thought that he actually settled his entire claim for $500.
There was no signed release, there was not even a signed check. In fact, they wired the money to him. We’re going to contest this and I’m quite confident we’re going to get past this sort of alleged settlement. But this just shows you how tricky insurance companies are. They’ll try to resolve your claim way before you know the extent of your injury, way before you even understand the value of what happened to you. So, be really careful to settle anything quickly, really don’t sign anything or even give a statement to the insurance company without speaking to an experienced lawyer first.
Once again, this is Andrew Kass standing up for bikers that go down. Be careful. Be well.
