Taking a bicycle ride always leads to unexpected twists…

One of the great things about taking a bike ride is never knowing what adventures are in store for you. For instance, yesterday I was taking a nice brisk 35 mile ride. It occurred to me and motivated me to ride 17 miles to my favorite hotdog joint. Yes, I justified this by knowing all the protein and carbohydrates would fuel my return trip home. LOL.

Winding Road

On my way to the hotdog joint I was into a 10 mile an hour headwind with my head down a majority of the time. All of a sudden I look up and see right in front of me a 10 foot snake! I can assure you that this is the first time I ever ran into snake outside of the zoo. I have no idea if this snake is indigent to the area, although I’ve certainly never seen one in the woods before.

Every time I take a ride it seems like there is some kind of small or not so small twist or venture that I run into. This is probably one of the things I love most about bike riding. Don’t get me wrong I love the exercise, camaraderie, interesting people I meet, the sites along the way as well. However, it is this combination of things that makes getting on a bike and irresistible itch. Please let me know by your comments of what interesting and amazing twists you’ve had during your rights. Remember; always be visible and be safe when you ride!!
