It is finally warm enough here in Chicago for me to start taking some rides. I personally will not ride if it is colder than 34 degrees. I know there are plenty of more hearty souls than me and g-d bless them, I just can’t do it. Anyway, I have now taken a couple of rides and am super excited about getting back on my bike on a daily basis.

It occurred to me that one of the things about riding that differs from most other types of exercise is “adventure”. Lets’ face it, you are unlikely to stumble upon much adventure every time you get on your indoor trainer, take a yoga class, play tennis, basket ball, play _______(fill in the blank). However, every time I ride it feels like a new adventure. There always seems to be a new twist to each ride. Sometimes they are not twists I am looking for like, a road that is closed, a flat tire or a car that almost hits me. However, many times they are amazing, such as an incredible view, hooking up with another rider/group or simply having that smile on your face when you are in the zone . Each ride is different and unique and ultimately this is what I believe allow people to enjoy the ride for a lifetime. If you are an avid rider you know what I mean. I love this aspect of riding and it seems to be rarely written about. I am always looking forward to the next adventure. I would love to hear anybody else’s thoughts on this. Have fun and be safe.
