It seems to me that some of the biggest challenges facing most Americans include: obesity, pollution,  rising health insurance premiums, congestion and of course world peace.  Now lets’ see which of these biking could save.  First and most obviously obesity would be eliminated if everyone used their bike for any trip that was less than 5 miles, it appears that would cover about 40% of all non-work trips.  This is just a rough estimate from scouring the internet for studies.    Clearly,  pollution would be substantially reduced by the using a non-carbon emitting bike instead of cars and trucks.   Now once you have less obesity and less pollution you naturally have healthier humans .

This would allow health insurance premiums to fall.  Since, healthier humans need less expensive medical procedures and therefore health insurance companies would require less money to cover its claims.   Bikes are much, much smaller than cars and trucks; this equals less congestion.   Now the final problem, creating world peace.  Well, if everybody has a healthy body and mind it only follows that the general happiness of humans will rise and happy people tend to play better with others!!  lol.
