Every once in a while you come upon story about a cyclist that simply redefines what it means to staying fit. A man named Robert Marchand, now 102 Years Old, rode into the record books in Lyon, France two years ago by breaking a record that he created, which is the most distant in one hour (24.25 km). The reason he created this record was because it was for somebody that was 100 years old. As if that’s not amazing enough, he will attempt to break that record this year at 102 years old! Wow, most of us would be happy if we could walk at 100 years old, rather even make it to 100 years old. This man is not only 100 years old but his riding at a very respectable pace.
As a bicycle injury lawyer, I see many cyclists that have been injured in an accident and must go through substantial effort to rehabilitate their bodies. This man is a testament that getting in shape is simply mind over matter, if you don’t mind, it don’t matter. I now realize I can never say I feel too old to get on the bike. For this we can all bank Robert Marchand.
Ride. Be safe. Have fun.
