I recently read an article on the biking culture in Denmark and learned that every taxi is equipped with a bike rack that will accommodate two bikes. What a great idea and what a great way to encourage biking as part of a transportation solution. They have had this service since 1962!! At first you might think why use a taxi if you are on a bike. But think how often you may need to. Such as if it starts raining and you have no gear, mechanical problems, you want to go somewhere with someone who is not on a bike, you are tired, it is dark and you have no lights, etc. Bike share is finally starting to appear in American cities and that will set an example of how much good adding bikes to urban transportation will be. Having all taxis with bike racks would add to that. What are your thoughts? Would you ride more often if you knew you can always jump in a taxi to get to where you are going, if needed?
