As a big advocate of roadside assistance plans, I was happy to come across a bicycle roadside assistance plan. The Better World Club touts itself as “America’s Only Eco-Friendly Auto Club,” however in addition to their auto services, they offer a whole array of bicycle roadside assistance services. Rather, I’m just adding it to our blog as a way of sharing what I believe to be a beneficial resource for cyclists.

The Better World Club provides 24/7 roadside assistance for bicycles, something that I find quite comforting. Having a flat tire is inevitable, and sometimes a repair kit just is not enough to do the job. Even worse is when a flat tire strikes and you don’t have your repair kit on hand. No matter the reason, bicycle roadside assistance is just a phone call away.

Membership dues are a reasonable $39.95 per year, and $17 for each additional cyclist. This covers 2 service calls and up to 30 miles. They will provide transportation for you and your bike up to 30 miles included, with a charge for additional mileage beyond 30. Better still, they will dispatch a provider with a toolkit to repair a flat tire. One additional feature that I like is their lockout service. Although they will not dispatch someone to remove your bike lock, if you pay for that service independently they will reimburse you for the cost up to $50.
In addition to the bicycle roadside assistance, the Better World Club also advocates for increased bike lanes and other biking initiatives throughout the country. They are an ecologically minded company and they support efforts to reduce carbon pollutants.
As a biker, I work hard to promote green efforts, especially throughout the cycling world. I hope to see more people take advantage of this service, and I think it offers peace of mind.
