In the latest of a slow of recent recalls, Yamaha has recalled 14,320 2015 and 2016 Yamaha YZF-R3 motorcycles. The Yamaha recall issue, it appears, are fuel tanks that may eventually leak fuel due to an issue with the mounting bracket. Apparently, engine vibrations can, over time, create contact between the fuel tank and the mounting bracket. This can cause a fuel leak and a potential ignition source.

Yamaha Recall

This is the most recent of several recalls of the Yamaha R3 bikes. Other issues include potential engine seizure and issues with the clutch. The VIN range for affected bikes is between MH3RH06Y3FK001316 and MH3RH06Y8GK015360.

If you have been affected by this recall, you may contact Yamaha customer service at 1-800-962-7926. The recall is expected to go into effect on March 9th, 2017. For more information, owners can contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit their website, www.safercar.gov
