Preliminary investigations reveal that a Ford Escort, operated by a 65-year-old Downers Grove woman, had come to a halt in the inside lane of southbound Route 12 due to a mechanical issue. Tragically, it was at this very moment that the Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra Classic, driven by a 69-year-old Northbrook man, was approaching from behind in the same lane. Regrettably, the motorcycle collided with the stationary Ford, leading to a series of harrowing rollovers that forcefully expelled both the driver and his passenger, a 63-year-old Northbrook woman.
In the aftermath of this devastating accident, emergency medical services swiftly transported both victims to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. However, despite their best efforts, the woman was pronounced deceased upon arrival at the hospital. The man, on the other hand, remains in critical condition, bravely fighting for his life.
Meanwhile, it is a small solace that the driver of the Ford and her passenger, a 67-year-old Naperville woman, emerged unscathed from the crash, spared from the physical injuries that have befallen the victims of this tragic incident.
