A Vermont resident is facing legal action in connection with the passing of the esteemed actor, Treat Williams, who tragically lost his life in June due to a motorcycle accident at the age of 71.
As a result of a thorough inquiry conducted by the office of Bennington County State’s Attorney Erica Marthage, a 35-year-old individual named Ryan Koss has been issued a citation on the charge of “grossly negligent operation with death,” as stated in a press release issued by the Vermont State Police on Tuesday.
The incident occurred on June 12 at approximately 5 p.m. EST in Dorset, Vermont, when Koss, driving an SUV, collided with Williams’ motorcycle.

Following the crash, Williams was transported via air to Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York, where his unfortunate demise was confirmed. The release underscores that “The Medical Examiner’s Office in New York determined that Mr. Williams died of severe trauma and blood loss as a result of the crash.”

Vermont State Police established contact with Koss on Tuesday evening, after which he voluntarily presented himself and underwent due processing on the aforementioned charge before being released.
A court appearance for Koss has been scheduled for September 25 at the Vermont Superior Court in Bennington.
