Happy Couples Ride Motorcycles

As motorcycle crash attorneys, we spend quite a bit of time getting to know our clients. We represent them during one of the most trying times in their lives. Often, husbands and wives visit us together, even if just one was involved in the accident. Many of these couples ride together, either having met each other through riding or discovering it together after marriage. Over time we have noticed that, despite the unfortunate circumstances of their accident, these couples appear remarkably happy.

Studies indicate that couples who share a hobby or interest are happier in their marriage. Couples who ride together often spend their weekends and other leisure time pursuing their common interest. They maintain the same or similar social circles, and enjoy the same events. Financial considerations, such as saving for a new motorcycle or for a weekend rally, are also shared. Priorities and interests are similar, and there is less likelihood of tension. Couples who bike together create and share memories, and build upon their adventures together. This allows them to revisit pleasurable experiences together, as they grow as a couple.

Accidents sometimes occur, and couples who ride together may be more empathetic and accepting of the dangers associated with riding a motorcycle. Instead of resenting an injured partner for participating in an activity associated with some degree of risk, a fellow biker is more likely to understand that the rewards and benefits outweigh the risks.

Couples who share the road on the same bike experience a physical closeness that is rarely replicated by non-riding couples. After all, bikers spend hours of time with their bodies pressed firmly together. Bikers who share the road on separate bikes become attuned to the body language and signals of the other as the move together down the highways. When it comes to weathering life’s storms, couples who share the love of motorcycles just seem to fare better.
