Breaking Down Lake County’s Car Crash Stats

Of Lake County’s 12,161 traffic crashes, 2,894 of them resulted in at least one person being hurt. About ten percent of this number, 285 in total, were classified as severe injury crashes. Fifty-five crashes in the county caused at least one person to lose their life.

  • About 33 car accidents happened every day in Lake County
  • More than 200 injury accidents happened every month
  • Approximately 23 severe injury crashes occurred each month
  • About one fatality accident happened every week

While these numbers pale in comparison to those of a larger community like Cook County, they are not insignificant. • Driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs
