I enjoy riding myself occasionally. However, generally speaking I prefer to ride with others. Sometimes it can be in a very spirited group ride other times just with a close friend or two. Though my 5 year old daughter, Lillian, is by far my favorite person to ride with. Watching her ride brings me back to the excitement I felt the first time I rode a bike as child; the excitement hasn’t diminished since!! The smile on her face when she rides is priceless and the reason I urge all my friends and family to get back on a bike.
From the moment she wakes up all she wants to do is get on her bike…. just like her daddy. Riding a bike is about being alive! The combination of speed, wind, scent, and pumping of your heart while riding a bike is what feeling fully alive is to me!! Many times I hear people say they will not write a bike because of all the perceived dangers. As a bicycle injury lawyer I am fully aware of all the risks one takes when they get on a bicycle. However, I remind everybody that is concerned about the risks of riding a bike of an important study. There has been a study that confirmed the health benefits of riding a bicycle outweigh the risks by 20 times. Of course I’ve written and spoken many times about the need to be alert and safe while riding your bicycle. Addition, I have a very strong proponent of liking every structure that separates bikers from motor vehicles. Studies have shown across the world that’s as the number of bikers increases so does the safety of everybody riding. So… get on your bike and feel alive!
Ride. Be Safe. Have Fun.
