6 Great Motorcycle Movies

  1. Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man: If explosions, high speed chases, and a bunch of laughs are your thing, check out this movie. Mickey Rourke and Don Johnson star as a couple of guys who will do anything they can to keep their buddy’s bar from closing down. Their plight gets funnier and funnier as this “good guy vs. bad guy” movie progresses.
  2. Easy Rider: In this classic biker movie, two hippies (Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper) set off on a bike trip across the country. As they travel they face fear, bigotry, and freedom-loving rebels like themselves. They strive to discover real happiness and find it in the end, despite being arrested along the way.
  3. The Motorcycle Diaries: Based on a log kept by Che Guevera, this movie is based on a bike trip that took place across South America. The two friends face their very different futures as they travel together. Struggling with lack of money, bike problems (man, we’ve all been there!), and isolation, their visit to a leper colony greatly changes them both.
  4. The Wild One: A 1953 Marlon Brando flick, the movie centers on a gang of bikers who generally like to cause bedlam. The crash a motorcycle race to steal a trophy and generally terrorize a town with their antics before finally facing their rival gang.
  5. On Any Sunday: This Steve McQueen documentary is an amazing look into the lives of motorcycle racers and their fans. The movie considers the “whys” behind the sport and details the individuals who risk their lives to race around the world.
  6. The Wild Angels: “We wanna be free to do what we wanna do!” This movie speaks to the heart and soul of most of us bikers. Peter Fonda plays the leader of a motorcycle gang, fighting to get back his pal’s bike. His friend “Loser” is injured during the recovery and later dies from his injuries. The funeral erupts into a 30-minute party and celebration of freedom and all we ride for!
